Card Prime / Instant

They walk in. They walk out with a card.

A KIOSK journey that covers identity, KYC, product choice, printing and PIN — and a personalisation pipeline for everything that has to be embossed.

KIOSK

The journey, step by step.

The same API surface as the branch and the app, so the KIOSK is a front end rather than a separate system.

Pre-activation

Ready before it arrives.

A card can be activated digitally at issuance, which removes the separate activation call and the days of dead time that follow a posted card.

Activate at issuance

The activation decision happens where the card is produced, not weeks later on a phone line.

No activation call

Nothing for the cardholder to remember, and one fewer reason for a card to be abandoned in a drawer.

Usable on first tap

Contactless works immediately, with the no-PIN ceiling that the product's control matrix sets.

Embossing

Multi-vendor, with the keys handled properly.

Personalisation runs as a pipeline: build a file in the vendor's own format, encrypt it with that vendor's PGP key, deliver it over SFTP, and reconcile the acknowledgement card by card.

01 · Build

Per-vendor perso format: embossing text, magnetic tracks, ICC data, artwork reference.

02 · Encrypt

PGP encryption with the vendor's public key. Clear-text perso data never leaves the vault.

03 · Deliver

SFTP exchange on the agreed schedule, with delivery receipts held against the batch.

04 · Reconcile

Acknowledgement and rejection handling per card, so nothing is assumed produced.

Vendor A · perso format A Vendor B · perso format B Vendor C · perso format C

Why more than one vendor matters

A single embossing vendor is a single point of failure for card supply, and a weak negotiating position at renewal. Vendor profiles make the second vendor a configuration entry rather than a six-month integration.

  • Per-vendor perso format, artwork reference and test deck
  • Separate PGP key pairs, rotated per the institution's schedule
  • Batch scheduling and delivery receipts per vendor
  • Acknowledgement and rejection handling at card level, not batch level
  • Routing a card product to another vendor: configuration with maker-checker
